A HORSE OF A LIFETIME

THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN HORSE IS FOR THOSE SeekingConnection
You are looking for more than just a horse. You're looking for something special, a horse you connect with. The kind of horse that meets you at the gate, follows you without being asked, and makes you feel like you were chosen just as much as you did the choosing. Safe. Beautiful. Smooth. Entirely devoted to you.
Finding your heart horse begins with finding a breeder you can trust. You deserve a breeder who tells you the truth before the sale and stands behind it long after.
THERE COMES A TIME WHEN
YOU HAVE STOPPED Settling
You may have arrived here carrying a quiet disappointment. Maybe you bought a horse from someone who wasn't honest. A horse that didn't work out. A breeder who made promises their program couldn't keep. We know what it's like when someone we trusted in the horse community didn’t live up to their word.
There is a standard in this industry that too many people quietly lower when no one is watching. We don't.
A pedigree alone does not earn a horse a place in our breeding program. We look at the whole horse: health, conformation, temperament, gait, and genetics. No pedigree, color, or beauty is worth compromising the next generation.
We once bought a mare that stopped people in their tracks. Drop dead gorgeous. Exceptional pedigree. The kind of horse that turns heads at fifty yards.
Unfortunately, we couldn't catch her on a good day and she was always looking around the corner for a three headed monster. Despite significant financial loss, we chose not to breed her. Some breeders would have. For us, she didn’t make the cut.
Every breeding decision we make is based on a commitment to improve upon the breed. We will never let the people who trust us pay for bad decisions.
INTEGRITY
ISN’T Optional
Not all horses are created equal. Neither are the people who breed them.
Every foal born here carries decisions made years before its arrival. Bloodlines studied across generations, pairings carefully chosen with conformation, gait, temperament and genetics in mind. Nutrition and health are managed at every stage. We produce a small number of exceptional horses each year because putting our name on a horse means standing on our values.
From their first days of life, our foals learn that people can be trusted. Before they are a week old they are being taught to yield their headquarters, pick up all 4 feet, and accept daily handling. There is no force. No fear. No rushing. When one of our horses arrives at your farm, it has already decided that the world is not something to be afraid of and that people are the best part of it.
THE HORSES Tell the Story
HORSES SAVED
me
I don't say that lightly.
As a kid horses gave me an escape from a world that felt loud and uncertain. On the back of a gaited horse, moving down a trail with a smooth rhythm underneath me, I was free. I was safe. I was loved. That feeling became the truest thing I knew.
I was fortunate to learn from one of the finest eyes in the gaited horse world, a mentor who bred, spotted saddle horses, racking horses, and Tennessee Walking horses. What I learned from him didn't come from a book. It came from years of standing at a fence, listening, studying horses, and understanding that the difference between a good pairing and a great one is something you feel long before you can explain it.
I grew up less than an hour a way from the Ohio horse. Sometimes I wonder how closely connected those childhood horses might have been to the horses that became a part of the Rocky Mountain Horse breed.
I never forgot this feeling. And I never stopped believing that everyone deserves to find it. That belief eventually changed the course of my life.
I traded lake front property, the boat dock, the sunsets, the life most people spend decades working toward for 250 acres of raw Tennessee farmland and a breeding program built from the ground up. I didn't look for just any horse. I sought out exceptional horses from breeding programs across the country, choosing each one for what it could contribute to the horses we hoped to produce. American Dream Horse exists because of what horses gave me when I needed them the most. Every foal we raise, every horse we place, that is the gift being paid forward.
There's a special place in my heart for the woman who has been searching for something she couldn't quite name. And for the child who just needs to feel safe. I know both of those feelings.
